Global clinical guidelines cite that it is the ethical responsibility of all healthcare providers to approach the patient as a whole person and to provide relational, dignity-based, compassionate spiritual care. Spirituality should also be part of a clinician's professional development, encouraging vocation and relationship centered care. Thus, clinicians' self-compassion and self-care are essential to their provision of spiritually centered care. This module provides the necessary knowledge and tools to identify the ethical standards and how they relate to spiritual care, cultivate the professional development of healthcare providers, and recognize cultural competence as an essential skill to provide spiritual care.
